Passion Pit cancels Manila concert

MANILA, Philippines – Passion Pit canceled all their international shows, including Manila, on August 6. 

The group was supposed to come to Manila on August 13 for a concert at the World Trade Center. The group posted on Facebook on July 25 that they had to cancel their performances in Canada and Michigan because singer Michael Angelakos was recovering from bronchitis and pneumonia. 

Vybe Productions, the official promoter of Passion Pit’s Manila concert, posted on social media on August 6 that doctors have suggested that Michael take the next few weeks off for rest and recuperation. 

“Fellow Passion Pit fans, believe us when we say that we feel as disappointed as you guys as we announce this, since we are such huge fans of Passion Pit and have been trying for so hard and so long to get them here in Manila. But also, being such huge fans of theirs, we are extending our prayers to Michael and as much help as we possibly can to the band, during this rough period. Please see official statement from Passion Pit below, and we appreciate your kind understanding on the matter, as well as prayers for Michael’s return to full health:

“‘Passion Pit has been forced to cancel all international shows, including shows in Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Japan, and Australia. Doctors have now mandated that the next few weeks be used for rest and recuperation. It is with a heavy heart that we make such an announcement, as Passion Pit has never been to many of these countries. However, we are left with no choice. Michael is devastated and would like everyone to know that he’s working to get healthy as soon as possible. No other tour dates are affected by this issue. Passion Pit will work to visit all of the countries involved as soon as possible, and Michael and the team would like to thank all of the promoters and fans for their patience and understanding during this difficult time.
All we can say is how grateful we are for the opportunity and, in better health, that we greatly look forward to making up these shows and seeing everyone soon.’
