Derek Ramsay recalls breakup with Solenn Heussaff

MANILA, Philippines – They broke up years ago, but Derek Ramsay says his relationship with former girlfriend Solenn Heussaff broke his heart.

In an interview on Gandang Gabi Vice, Sunday, September 6, Derek initially did not reveal Solenn’s name but described the relationship as the one “I broke my own heart for.”

“Kasi it wasn’t just the right time and I made decisions na parang… I guess I won’t say the wrong decisions, pero decisions that broke my heart,” Derek said.

 “Parang nakipag-break ako, and in the process I broke my heart…” (Like I was the one who initiated the break up, and in the process I broke my heart for it…)

Derek added: “I mean, mahal na mahal ko siya noon, pero sometimes that’s not enough. Parang mayroon nangyayari sa relatonship na, I guess sobra kayong nagmamahalan na sometimes you bring out the worst out of each other. So for me too much turmoil, I need to get out, kahit alam ko na mahal na mahal ko siya.”

(I mean I loved her that time, but sometimes that’s not enough. Like, if there’s something happening in the relationship, I guess you love each other too much, sometimes you bring out the worst out of each other. So for me, it was like, too much turmoil, i needed to get out, even if I really loved her.)

When Vice mentioned the names of his past girlfriends, Derek mentioned Solenn. The two dated for about 3 years.

Aside from Solenn, Derek has previously dated Angelica Panganiban and Cristine Reyes. Derek dated Angelica for 6 years before their break-up in February 2013.  His relationship with Christine lasted from late August to October 2013.

Derek was also previously married to Mary Christine Jolly, with whom he has a son. He is now in a relationship with Joanne Villablanca, who recently attended the premiere of the movie Ex With Benefits starring Derek and Coleen Garcia. (READ: ‘Ex With Benefits’ Review: Skin-deep maturity)
