Michael Learns to Rock on why they keep coming back to PH
'We have a history with Filipino fans,' they say. The group is back in Manila for their 4th Manila show

MANILA, Philippines – After 7 years, Michael Learns to Rock returns to Manila for a one-night concert on September 19 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Danish trio Jascha Richter (vocals, keyboards), Mikkel Lentz (guitar) and Kåre Wanscher (drums) will be playing their hit songs “25 Minutes,” “Sleeping Child,” and “The Actor,” among many others.

Most of the songs will be coming from their greatest hits compilation album, 25: The Complete Singles, released in 2014.

We have a very successful concert in Singapore where we played a very special set list, handpicked for Asia. We’ll bring the same show to Manila. It is all ready,” Jascha shared.

“It’s such a success in Singapore so hopefully it’s the same thing here. We look forward to having a sold out venue on Saturday,” he added.

This will be the 4th time that Michael Learns to Rock will perform live for their Filipino fans. The group explained that the warm support they received online was the main reason why they never stopped coming back.

“Its really wonderful. We have a history with Filipino fans. They invited us here in the ’90s and they still do,” Mikkel shared.

“Now, our fans have kids and we see parents and children come to our concerts,” Kåre added.

“We can also see on Facebook that we have a lot of fans from the Philippines. Maybe the Philippines is the country where we have the most Facebook fans. It’s amazing to have that many fans. They are the reason why we’re here,” Mikkel continued.

When asked what fans can expect from their 25th anniversary concert, Michael Learns to Rock shared that it will be “one big party” where fans can sing along to their greatest hits.

We love the way people are singing here. You guys love to sing,” Kåre said.

“It’s one big party with the fans, with the audience. We try to play songs that people would love to hear. Songs that people know and jut have fun,” he continued.

The group shared that they would love to collaborate with some of the new artists given the opportunity to do so.

“We meet so many people and they all want to collaborate with us. Jackie Chan? He was actually a big fan of us and he’s a singer too, might be awesome,” Lentz said.

Fans of Michael Learns to Rock, however, may have to wait a bit longer for any collaboration in the future as the group is busy, not just touring, but recording new songs.

“There’s a new material coming up and it’s going to be brand new, original songs, unreleased material,” Kåre shared.

They shared that the first single is slated for release the first of November, with new releases coming in every four months in 2016.
