MANILA, Philippines – Solenn Heussaff said that there was no trace of awkwardness between her and Derek Ramsay now that they are working together in a movie.

In an interview with reporters at the sideline of her upcoming movie Flotsam, Solenn said that she and Derek had fun shooting on the first day of the movie Love is Blind. (READ:Derek Ramsay recalls breakup with Solenn Heussaff)

Solenn and Derek dated for 3 years before becoming showbiz personalities. Solenn is now engaged to Argentinian businessman Nico Bolzico, while Derek is in a relationship with Joanne Villablanca, who recently attended the premiere of the movie Ex With Benefits starring Derek and Coleen Garcia.

“Actually masaya ‘yung shooting. I felt baka maging akward nang kaunti (it might be awkward a little), pero feeling ko parang it made it just better.  We got to talk about so many things and I’m happy that I accepted this role,” she said.

Solenn added: “[There’s] no awkwardness at all. I really felt kasi these days hindi kami nagkikita (we don’t see each other)  na oh baka maging (that it might be) weird lang, ‘yung awkwardness. Pero first day pa lang it’s like we’ve spoken before and we’re both adults na so that’s okay and I’m happy.”

Meanwhile, Solenn is very happy for former leading man Alden Richards, who is now one of GMA 7’s top leading man after becoming part of the AlDub tandem on Eat Bulaga. Solenn and Alden worked in the Bayaniserye Ilustrado, a story based on the life of Jose Rizal.

“I knew he (Alden) was going to be big. Back then he was already. He’s always been kind to everyone he worked with. Kahit matatagal na siyang (Even if he’s already an) actor, super down to earth siya. Kahit super sikat na sikat siya, ang bilis nung rise up to stardom, he’s the same old Alden. So masaya ako para sa kanya, para kay Yaya Dub,” Solenn said. (Even if he’s really famous, the rise up to stardom is fast, he’s the same old Alden. So I’m really happy for him, for Yaya Dub.)

As for the movie Flotsam, Solenn said she was really happy to do the film. The movie, filmed in La Union, is about the life of people who love to surf. In the movie, Solenn plays Kai, a career woman who, though engaged, goes to Flotsam and Jetsam Hostel to retreat from a relationship. She meets Tisoy (Rocco Nacino), a bartender at the hostel, and they have a summer fling. Soon Kai finds herself having second thoughts about pushing through with her wedding.

Solenn said that this is the first time she and Rocco will be working together as a love team and she finds him nice to work with.

While the movie promotes the beauty of La Union and surfing, Solenn also reminded everyone to take care of their environment.

“Always respect our surroundings. Also know that, in the last 10 years, every year mas dumadami ang mga (there are so many) natural disasters and everything at iyan dahil sa mga tao talaga (and it’s really the people)…. So don’t just take care of what’s inside your health. Take care of your country, of what’s outside, that’s your home as well,” she said. – Rappler.com
