John Nite: ‘It will never be the same without Kuya Germs’

MANILA, Philippines – For Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman co-host John Nite, it will be different for him and the other hosts to continue the show, following the death of German “Kuya Germs” Moreno on Friday, January 8.

In an interview with GMA News, John, a nephew of the veteran TV host, said that when he and the family arrived at St Luke’s Medical Center, there was already a straight line on Kuya Germs’ heart rate monitor. Doctors were able to revive him.

Kuya Germs died at 3:20 am at the age of 82.

“Up to his last breath, finulfill niya iyon, na hanggang sa huling hininga niya, talagang ito yung kaligayahan niya – ang mag-entertain saka to make people happy and matulungan kung sino maghahahangad ng puwang sa showbusiness,” John said.

(Up to his last breath, he fulfilled that, that until his last breath, this is really what made him happy – to entertain and to make people happy, and help those who want to be part of showbusiness.)

“It will never be the same without a Kuya Germs in Master Showman and honestly, I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, personally, to me. More so with the whole family and more so with the industry,” John said.

In the same report, the family of Kuya Germs thanked everyone for the prayers and support. Lilybeth Rasonable, GMA 7 Senior Vice President for Entertainment, said that the staff will miss their “tatay (father).”

“He was our tatay (father). And we will surely miss him and he’ll always remain in our hearts forever. We love you very much,” she said.

Kuya Germs was last seen in public during the GMA 7 New Year Countdown on January 1. He also appeared in a number of his talents’ press conferences and events.

Kuya Germs suffered a stroke in January 2015. After months of rest, he returned to his TV and radio shows. (READ: Stars mourn death of German ‘Kuya Germs’ Moreno)

Born on October 4, 1933, German Moreno paved the way for many of today’s popular stars through his shows, such as GMA Supershow and That’s Entertainment. Prior to becoming a star maker and actor, Kuya Germs was a utility worker.

His remains will be brought to the Mt Carmel Church in New Manila. The date of the public viewing will be announced. – Rappler.com
