WATCH: Pixar’s tributes to classic films through the years
Scenes in 'Toy Story' pay homage to 'Star Wars,' one in 'Monsters Inc' pays homage to 'The Shining' and many more

MANILA, Philippines – If you haven’t noticed that Pixar pays tribute to classic films in their movies, YouTube user “What’s in The Frame” has you covered.

On January 8, Jorge Luengo Ruiz published a supercut of scenes from Pixar movies set beside scenes from the films they paid tribute to.

From the first Toy Story, which pays homage to Star Wars: A New Hope (1977), Total Recall (1990), and Raiders of the Lost Ark (1991), to their latest release, Inside Out (2015), paying homage to Chinatown (1974), Pixar’s movies are filled with hidden gems.

In the video, you can catch scenes from Finding Nemo (2003) too, compared with scenes from Kramer vs Kramer (1979), and The Shining (1980). Some movies were also said to be inspired by Princess Mononoke (1997), Die Hard (With a Vengeance) (1995), and A Clockwork Orange (1971).

Since it was released, Lee Unkrich, director of Pixar’s Toy Story 3 and the upcoming Coco, tweeted about the video, saying that some of the tributes were intentional, while others were not.

Set to music by Thomas Newman and Michael Giacchino, who have both worked on Pixar movies, the supercut will have you waxing nostalgic, not just for Pixar classics, but also for the movies they’ve paid tribute to throughout the years.

Did you catch any of these tributes when you watched Pixar’s films? Which ones surprised you? Let us know in the comments! – Rappler.com
