MANILA, Philippines – TV host Luis Manzano gets the opportunity to work with girlfriend Angel Locsin in the upcoming talent search Pilipinas Got Talent, but don’t expect sweet moments on-screen.

In an interview with reporters during the press conference and taping of the show at the Kia Theater Tuesday, January 12, Luis talked about working with Angel on the show. Luis is one of the hosts, while Angel will serve as one of the judges. (READ: ‘PGT’ judge Angel Locsin touched as fans chant ‘Darna’

First and foremost, we have to be professional. Nagkataon na pinili kami (It so happened that we were chosen) to work together. So besides the relationship or anything else, we are professionals,” Luis said.

“We don’t want to take the spotlight away from the contestants. I think that’s the proper way na sila ang bumida dito hindi ‘yung mga relationship namin sa isa’t isa. Pinaghirapan nila ito, sila ang dapat bumida (I think that’s the proper way, that they are the stars of the show, and not our relationship with each other.) They’ve worked hard for this, so they should be stars),” he added.

In 2014, Luis’ mother, Batangas Governor Vilma Santos said that Luis was suppose to do a movie with her and Angel, but he turned it down because he did not want their relationship to become a selling point for the movie.

In Pilipinas Got Talent Season 5, Luis returns as host along with Billy Crawford. Having hosted together in the past, the banter was very fast-paced during the interview.

“I guess this would be the perfect time to admit na we really don’t get along. Ito kasi pera-pera…basta bayad kami, friends kami (This is all about the money for as long there’s money involved, we’re friends),” he joked.

“He’s my brother from another mother. Kumbaga kami yung magkapatid na ibang apelyido (In other words we’re siblings with different surnames)…the fact that we get to work together again and considering yung mga nagawa namin (what we’ve done) before. I’m happy, I get to spend time with my brother Billy,” Luis added.

Aside from Luis, Billy, and Angel, joining them on the show are former ABS-CBN boss Freddie “FMG” Garcia, Robin Padilla, and Vice Ganda.  With a new batch of judges, Luis said to expect a fun show.

“It’s going to be the best season ever,” he said.

Pilipinas Got Talent Season 5 is scheduled to air soon, with auditions now ongoing in Metro Manila and parts of the country. – Rappler.com
