Pia Wurtzbach invited to attend ‘Final Fantasy XV’ event
A decade in the making, 'Final Fantasy XV' is set for a 2016 release. Pia was asked through Twitter if she can attend the event announcing the official release date.

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, a self-confessed avid gamer, has been granted a wish by the Square Enix gods. She has been invited to a big event in March 2016 announcing the release date of the long-awaited Final Fantasy XV.

In the Japanese video game magazine Famitsu, as quoted by Wired, director Hajime Tabata said, “We’ll show the real XV during the release date announcement in March.”

Square Enix got in touch with the beauty queen through the official Final Fantasy Twitter, and Pia really seems to be over the moon.

Pia replied, asking for a Phoenix Down, an in-game item that brings knocked-out characters back to life during combat.

She said “Yes,” and might be one of the first to get the latest scoop on Noctis, Gladiolus, Ignis, and Prompto – the main characters of the upcoming Final Fantasy sequel.

A geeky, inside-joke filled exchange ensued

In a fun Twitter Q&A with fans, Pia shared that she’s a “gamer at heart.”

She also previously gushed about the popular role-playing game (RPG) in her Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything): “I started with Final Fantasy VIII. Not a lot of people like VIII because they usually start with FF VII. But I started with VIII because I’m a girl and I fell for the love story. My favorite character…that’s a tough one… is Quistis. The one with the whip. I like her.”

“And my favorite GF [Guardian Force], you know when they summon the GF, is Shiva. She’s my favorite. Then I do the boost, as well, so I get more damage [in battle]. I love Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. I finished all of Kingdom Hearts with no GameShark.”

Final Fantasy XV is the latest in a popular game series that has been around circa 1987. It was previously touted as a spin-off of Final Fantasy XIII (under the name Final Fantasy Versus XIII), originally under the sole supervision of director Tetsuya Nomura, who is known for his work on Final Fantasy VII

Hajime Tabata replaced Nomura at the helm in September 2014.

The game has been a decade in the making since it was unveiled in 2006. It will be available on  PlayStation 4 and XBox One. – Rappler.com
