IN PHOTOS: Stars post inspiring messages on International Women’s Day

MANILA, Philippines – Many of our local celebrities joined women all over the world in celebrating International Women’s Day on Tuesday, March 8.

Whether they were tributes to their idols and women in their lives, or messages for their fellow women, these actresses and personalities took to social media to celebrate the special day.

Here’s what they had to say.

Jessy Mendiola, who has long been rumored to be taking on the role of Darna in the upcoming movie, posted a photo that said, “We all have a Wonder Woman inside of us.” She dedicated her post “to all the strong women out there.”

Maja Salvador posted a photo of herself performing, backed up by her female dancers, with the caption, “The strongest actions for a woman is to love herself, be herself and shine amongst those who never believed she could.”

Actress KC Concepcion posted a tribute to her idol, Angelina Jolie-Pitt.

Anne Curtis, who is a UNICEF Celebrity Advocate for Children, posted the same photo as that of the UN Women’s Instagram account, with a short message about equality and empowerment.

Heart Evangelista posted a photo of herself at a rally led by Gabriela Women’s Party, at the Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila. Heart joined the militants at the rally and represented her husband, Chiz Escudero, who is running for vice president.
