#TeamCap does their best to outdo #TeamIronMan's awe-inspiring stunt in Paris

SINGAPORE (UPDATED) – The press tour for Captain America: Civil War is in full swing, and stars have taken the film’s central conflict between Captain America and Iron Man off the screen and around the world. As the cast splits up into #TeamCap and #TeamIronMan to promote the film globally, there’s no shortage of (friendly) trash talk from either side.

Stars have also done their best to outdo the other side by encouraging fans to take sides – and most recently, issuing challenges to their rivals.

Promoting #TeamIronMan in Paris, Robert Downey Jr, Don Cheadle, Emily Van Camp, and director Anthony Russo unveiled a clip showing Robert in character as Tony Stark playing with the Eiffel Tower Lights. Later, it lights up in the design of the Iron Man suit, revealing that the Iron Lady of France is in fact #TeamIronMan.

Not to be outdone, #TeamCap had its own stunt planned. In Singapore Thursday April 22, as devoted fans flocked to Marina Bay Sands to see the stars at the movie premiere, Captain America’s BFF the Falcon (Anthony Mackie) grabbed the microphone to rally fans, some of whom had been in line since 8am that day for a glimpse of the stars.

On April 23, Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, and director Joe Russo gathered at Singapore’s Helix Bridge for their own answer to Iron Man’s Eiffel stunt.

Fireworks illuminated the Singapore skyline. The iconic towers of the Marina Bay Sands were lit up in blue, red, and white – and later, the faces of #TeamCap were projected on the “petals” of the lotus-shaped ArtScience Museum. On the promenade, a huge rendition of Captain America’s shield brightly shone.

Earlier at the red carpet event, director Joe Russo took a moment to thank the crowd, saying that fans were the reason they made these movies.

All the actors took special care to make sure they acknowledged fans high up above them and behind them.

“This is unbelievable,” said Chris, grinning from ear to ear after having fans scream “Team Cap! Team Cap!” led by Anthony.

“I know there’s a lot of people here because we lost Sebastian about two hours ago,” joked the Falcon actor, the life of the party at every media encounter during this Singapore tour.

Back at the presscon, he had teased Team Iron Man, saying that Iron Man looked like a Coke can, the War Machine a trash can, the Black Panther a Michelin car tire, and most unflatteringly, The Vision as a magic marker. But what about the Black Widow?

“Perfect,” he said with a grin.
