'I've had breakups before myself and I always wanted sometime alone to heal, so let’s give her that muna,' Sharon says of her dear friend

MANILA, Philippines – Sharon Cuneta said that she has yet to hear from her good friend Zsa Zsa Padilla after Zsa Zsa’s daughter Karylle confirmed that Zsa Zsa’s engagement to architect Conrad Onglao is off.

It was Sharon who introduced Zsa Zsa and Conrad to each other two years ago before they came out as a couple.

In an interview with reporters during the press conference fo The Voice Kids (Sharon is the newest judge) Sharon said: “Not yet. I just heard about it yesterday (Wednesday, May 4). Yung statement ni Karylle (Zsa Zsa’s daughter) yun pa rin lang ang alam ko. Kasi I’m not ma-papel, I don’t like to not just because she’s my friend…

(The statement of Karylle is the only thing I know. I don’t really like to interfere, I don’t like to not just because she’s my friend…)

Ayoko yung parang nakikichismis ka lang (I don’t like to just join in the gossip.)  I know that if – I’ve had break ups before myself and I always wanted sometime alone to heal, so let’s give her that muna.”

Last March, Zsa Zsa said that she and Conrad were getting married this year was finalizing the details. Before Conrad, she was in a relationship with the Comedy King Dolphy, who died in 2012.

On Kiko and Leni Robredo

Meanwhile, Sharon said that she’s very happy that her husband Kiko Pangilinan is doing well in the polls. He is running for senator.

“I’m very very happy kasi nung una siguro from 2001 nung una siyang tumakbo, parang Quezon City lang may kilala sa kanya hindi yung buong bansa. So parang in a way, I had to really go out of my way para makilala siya. Tapos nung 2007, nare-rate na siya ng maganda kahit tumakbo siya ng independent, so natapos siya ng mga number 6 nun, kasi kilala na ng mga tao yung ginawa niya, alam na siya,” she said.

(I’m very, very happy because in 2001, when he first ran for the senate, I think it was only Quezon City who knew him and not the whole country. So In a way, I had to really go out of my way for him to be known. And then in 2007, he was rating very well even if he ran as an independent and I think he finished number 6  or something because people knew what he did and trusted him.)

Sabi nga niya ‘bago ko ligawan yung boto ng public, kailangan yung boto muna ng pamilya ko.  (As he said, ‘before I court the public’s votes, I need to get the votes of my family). So definitely as God as our witness, iyon yung importante sa amin. He’s a God-fearing man.”

She also said she would rather not say who she will vote for as president but said she was for Leni Robredo for her vice president. During the press conference, Sharon explained why she was for the representative of Camarines Sur.

“I didn’t endorse… you know, I have friends running sabay, e, for the presidency.

“I have a couple of friends running for vice president. But my vice president, I have decided, is Leni Robredo because I’ve known Leni before she became congresswoman pa,” Sharon said.

“I think Sec. Jesse, her late husband, ano siya, e, parang… tawag ko sa kanila, parang (I call them like) Jedi masters.

Konti na lang, tapos namatay pa si Sec. Jesse. Kasi they say na when you enter politics, imposibleng hindi madumihan ang kamay mo. (There are few of them and Sec. Jesse died. Because when you enter politics, they say it’s impossible you won’t get your hands dirty.)

“But I don’t believe that, kasi there are people like Sec. Jesse and somebody I happened to marry [Kiko], who are really good people and honest. Who never stole, who worked hard for what they have now.

“So, si Leni for me embodies pa rin all of that what Sec. Jesse embodied before,” Sharon said.

“And do not be fooled by her pagka-grandiosa (impressive style), she’s a smart lady.

“She knows what’s good for the country. She’s honest, she is upright, people respect her. She’s lovely, she’s a lovely person. So, she’s my VP.

“And, of course, I endorse my husband. And there’s my daddy, my uncle Tito [Sotto], period.”

KC’s love life

Meanwhile, Sharon has nothing but kind words for her daughter KC Concepcion’s reported suitor, former Azkals captain Aly Borromeo. The two have been linked to each other, after KC said in a interview that she has been getting to know him.

She’s getting know this good gentleman…lahat naman na date ni KC winelcome naman namin (all the guys KC dated, we welcomed them). So I’m very glad she’s getting to know this person who’s very decent, respectful. We like him very much. And he’s such a good boy,” she said.

When asked if she was in favor of Aly, Sharon said: “Si Aly super boto. (Aly really gets my vote)” – Rappler.com
