Jimmy Bondoc up for position in PAGCOR
Jimmy has been nominated to become AVP for Entertainment and defends his pending appointment.

MANILA, Philippines – After Arnell Ignacio confirmed that he was joining the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), another entertainer, Jimmy Bondoc, said that he will also take a position in the same government-owned and controlled corporation.

Jimmy tweeted on Monday, July 11, to share that he will be the new Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Entertainment.

Part of the post said: “Soon, I will be the AVP for Entertainment for PAGCOR, a blessing that the good Lord has assigned to me, through the power of our beloved president. I did not want to post this but well, social media beat me to it. So I thought it would be best to just tell you myself.

“It is NOT yet entirely final until the board convenes but truth to be told, I already begun working. It’s a 9-6pm job, and I have begun to learn the ropes.”

Bondoc also defended himself, saying he is aware that some will question his appointment.

“I don’t mind people questioning the credentials of some of us appointees. I know that’s part of life.  However, I would also like to say that Entertainment is God’s gift to me. I know it back and forth, but I’m willing to learn much more these coming years.  Natanggap na ako sa PAGCOR. Sana matanggap ninyo rin ako (I’ve been accepted in PAGCOR. I hope you accept me, too).”

In a text message to Rappler, PAGCOR chairman Andrea Domingo confirmed that Bondoc has been nominated for an appointment.

Known as a singer, Bondoc rose to fame with songs such as “Let Me Be The One,” “The Man I Was With You,” and “Hanggang Dito Na Lang.”

Bondoc was one of the many celebrities who actively campaigned for President Rodrigo Duterte before the elections. Along with singers Thor Dulay, Paolo Santos, and Luke Mejares, he sang the Philippine National Anthem during Duterte’s inauguration last June 30. – with reports from Pia Ranada/Rappler.com
