Sunshine Dizon, Timothy Tan face off in court over custody of children
Sunshine and estranged husband Timothy Tan go to court to settle matters about the custody of their two children

MANILA, Philippines – Actress Sunshine Dizon and her estranged husband Timothy Tan met on Thursday, July 28 at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 29 for a closed-door hearing over the custody of their two children.

According to a report from PEP, the closed-door hearing was heard by Judge Cleto Villacorta III and lasted for about an hour.

Timothy was accompanied by his lawyers Peter Sanchez and Ruth Castelo. (READ: Sunshine Dizon to pursue legal action against husband Timothy Tan)

Sunshine and her lawyer Claire Castro were the first to come out of the courtroom, after which she gave a short statement.

In a video posted by PEP, Sunshine said that this was the second time they faced in court regarding the custody case.

“I cannot say anything muna about the case,” Sunshine said, when asked if she and Tim have talked.

On the same day, they also attended a hearing which concerns cases regarding VAWC (Violence Against Women and their Children) and concubinage, said her lawyer.

When asked how her two kids were doing, Sunshine said: “The kids are very good. They are in school right now, they are coping […] well. Maganda naman yung disposition nung mga anak ko (My children are in a fine disposition).”

“They know what’s happening. They know what’s happening, I do not lie to them,” Sunshine added.

Asked if she has explained to them the situation, Sunshine admitted it was hard.

“You know I just explained that Daddy made a mistake and that he has to face the consequences of his actions,” she said.

She clarified that her children are not mad at Timothy, but are sad about what happened to them. She added that she allows her children to talk to him on the phone.

Sunshine also said that her Instagram account was hacked, thus she made another one. Through it, she has been receiving stories and questions from women who have been facing similar situations, which she responds to with advice.

When asked if she’s ready to face her estranged husband’s alleged mistress, Sunshine said: “I’m more than ready […] I don’t know if she will have the guts to show her face, but you know…”

Tim ‘problematic about the whole thing’

Meanwhile, in a separate interview, Tim’s lawyer Ruth Castelo said: “Siyempre, (Of course) he’s problematic about the whole thing.

Siyempre, stressed din siya. (Of course, he’s stressed.) He’s having sleepless nights over what happening.”

On the other hand, his other lawyer Peter Sanchez said that they were pleased to have talked with the other party.

As he was prodded by the press, Timothy just issued a short statement due to his gag order.

“Actually, I cannot talk about anything,” he said. “Nagbigay na ako ng (I already gave) statement, and that would be the first and the last na maibibigay ko (I can give).”

Last June, Timothy confirmed that he and Sunshine have separated as they faced marital problems. The latter had said that there is a mistress involved.

Sunshine said that she would pursue legal action because: “As a wife and mother who uncovered lies hindi po tama siguro na ako ay manahimik lamang and I assure everyone that I will finish this legal battle until the end.

(As a wife and mother who uncovered lies, it isn’t right for me to just keep quiet and I assure everyone that I will finish this legal battle until the end.)

“Makakaasa po kayo na magsasalita po ako ng katotohanan lamang sa tamang panahon (You can expect that I will speak only the truth in the proper time).” – Rappler.com
