Tyrese Gibson stands by co-star Vin Diesel amid ‘Fast 8’ rumors

MANILA, Philippines – Tyrese Gibson is backing up Vin Diesel amid the rumors of Vin’s alleged unprofessionalism on the set of Fast 8.

In an Instagram post on Friday, August 12, Tyrese said that he and Vin, who have worked on 3 of the 7 released Fast and Furious movies together, were like brothers.

“[It goes] without saying, I’ve had too many moments to count, too many heart-to-hearts, we’ve celebrated in too many countries, too many exchanges, too many play dates with our angels… Our brotherhood and every moment has inspired me to be a better man and father… So much strength to pull from… I’m so f-cking proud to call you my family and my brother…,” wrote Tyrese.

He then alluded to the recent drama that cropped up when Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson called out his “unprofessional” Fast 8 male co-stars in an Instagram post last week. TMZ reported that Vin was the subject of the tirade.

“Even now I’m learning so much about sitting still and being centered in the midst of all of this unexpected energy… I’ve always said that if only people knew how hard you work to protect this franchise and characters, minds would be blown… The fans around the world who continue to show up for us are just all around amazing…,” Tyrese said.

“And if no one else will jump out there and stand up I will – you’re my brother for life, let’s keep it positive and keep rockin this thing… My proudest post…”

Tyrese has commented on Dwayne’s online rant in the past, saying that he, Dwayne and the rest of the Fast 8 cast are on good terms, but he has since deleted the post.

Dwayne later added in a separate post that conflict is normal when it comes to working with a team: “I was raised on healthy conflict and welcome it. And like any family, we get better from it. At the end of the day me and [Fast 8] co-stars all agree on the most important thing: delivering an incredible movie to the world.”

Vin Diesel hasn’t commented on the reports of tension on set, but posted a cryptic message on Instagram saying, “Just give me a second and I will tell you everything. Everything.”

So much has gone on this year. I can’t believe I wrapped two back to back pictures I both starred in and produced. Now I get to return to my family, my life… To me.
