Beyonce remembers Aaliyah with throwback video
Beyonce posts a throwback video of her interviewing Aaliyah on the red carpet, in honor of Aaliyah's death anniversary

MANILA, Philippines – Music superstar Beyonce posted a throwback video of her and the late singer Aaliyah late Thursday, August 25, also the 15th anniversary of Aaliyah’s death.

The video was posted with no caption, but it is of her and Aaliyah at the 2000 MTV Movie Awards red carpet.

“Miss Aaliyah, how you doing, girl?” asked Beyonce, who was co-hosting the red carpet pre-show at the time. “What are you looking to seeing tonight?”

“I wanna see D’Angelo perform,” answered Aaliyah, before the two gushed about the singer-songwriter.

Aaliyah, who had also been enjoying a growing film career with roles in movies like Queen of the Damned and Romeo Must Die, was killed in a plane crash August 25, 2001. She and crew had been returning from the Bahamas, where the music video for the song “Rock The Boat” was filmed.

Back then, Beyonce, still with Destiny’s Child, said (via a report from the BBC): “She was one of the first celebrities we met, she was so nice, we went out, we hung out with her, and it’s really sad and we’re trying to be strong.” – Rappler.com
