Deniece Cornejo surrenders to PNP
The model, who is charged for illegal detention and grave coercion over the beating of actor Vhong Navarro, turns herself in to PNP chief Alan Purisima

MANILA, Philippines – Model Deniece Cornejo has surrendered to Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Allan Purisma after weeks of evading arrest.

In a phone interview, the PNP chief’s spokesperson, Senior Superintendent Wilben Mayor, said Cornejo met with Purisma at his office Monday, May 5.

Watch this report below.

Cornejo was evading a standing arrest warrant issued on April 11 by the Taguig court, before which she and 6 others had been charged with serious illegal detention and grave coercion over the beating of actor Vhong Navarro.

The mauling of Navarro occurred on January 22 at a unit in Forbeswood Heights Condominium in Taguig City, supposedly owned by one Soledad Ramos and leased to model Deniece Cornejo.

Cornejo’s camp claims that the beating was an act of citizen’s arrest, as Navarro allegedly raped Cornejo for less than a minute. (READ: Cornejo: Rape can happen in a minute, cites SC ruling)

Cornejo’s rape complaint against Navarro was dismissed by the DOJ investigating panel for lack of probable cause.

On April 26, two of Cornejo’s co-accused were arrested by authorities in Eastern Samar. Businessman Cedric Lee and Zimmer Raz were tracked by the National Bureau of Investigation, after the two hopped from one location to another.

The two were arraigned on April 30. – Rappler.com
