Kris Aquino asks people to support, pray for PNoy

MANILA, Philippines – Actress Kris Aquino has appealed to all those who believe in her brother, President Benigno Aquino III, to be more vocal about their support for him and to pray for him.

Kris made the call when she delivered a speech after a mass on the occasion of the 5th death anniversary of their mother, president Corazon Aquino on Friday, August 1. 

She also said that she will start to wear “more yellow” clothes, after she and her sister saw a “news broadcast” where reporters wore a particular color that allegedly reflected their “bias.”

“Kitang-kita namin iyong bias. Kulay noong kabila blatantly suot nung lahat ng mga nagrereport. So I told my Ate, ‘Ate mas marami naman akong airtime sa kanila, starting today magdidilaw talaga ako.'”

(You can clearly see the bias. The color of the other side blatantly worn by all those giving reports.  So I told my sister, ‘Ate, I have more airtime than them, starting today I will really wear yellow.’)

The TV host-actress shared that many people have praised her brother for doing a good job on social media. She wants more people to praise her brother in public to boost his morale. 

“They know what a good job he is doing. Ang problema lang iyong mga bilib, tumatahimik. So siguro ako magre-request na kaya I said: ‘Ako na ang magsasalita, ha.’ Kasi gusto ko hong engganyuhin lahat noong mga gusto ‘yong trabaho niya, gustong ipagpatuloy niya iyong magandang ginagawa niya. Bigyan natin siya ng lakas.”

(The problem is, those who are impressed with him are keeping quiet. So I guess I will have to be the one to make request. I said, ‘I will be the one to speak up, okay?’ I want to encourage those who like what he’s doing, who want him to continue the good things that he’s doing. Let’s give him strength.)

Kris said her brother needs all the moral support he can get. 

“He can’t do it on his own. We need to stand by him and give him strength. And please pray with us also that he stays alive….Gusto namin talaga good health, wisdom, strength, courage and he has the fortitude to last,” she said.

She also asked everyone to join her and her two children in praying that the President will do his job well, despite the bashing and criticism he has been receiving. 

“Please join me kasi every night, my kids and I, just have a simple prayer. Our prayer is: Guide Noy, dear God, please guide Noy. Give him strength, tulungan mo siya. Bigyan ninyo siya ng inspirasyon, palakasin ninyo siya at sana iyong mga naniniwala sa kanya iparamdam sa kanya araw-araw na hindi siya nag-iisa. Maraming maraming salamat po.”

(Dear God, please guide Noy, give him strength, help him. Give him inspiration, Stregthen him and that those who believe in him make him feel that his he is not alone. Thank very much.)

She also thanked their mother, whom she knows would be proud of them if she were alive today. 

“Mom, I know you are so proud of your son and in the same way all of us here right now, we are so proud talaga of everything he is and you know na – we know na, we are what we are because of our parents.” 

In his 5th State of the Nation Address on July 28, the President became visibly emotional when he mentioned why he took the challenge of seeking the presidency – in continuation of his late parents’ legacy.  Kris was seen crying in the audience at the House of Representatives, while listening to her brother. – Rappler.com
