While the media was allowed to attend, the Eigenmann family requested no photos be taken or interviews be granted, as requested by Mark before he died on Monday September 1 due to liver cancer.

Among the celebrities who came early to express their condolence to the actor’s family include Pilita Corrales, Rio Locsin, Noel Trinidad, Gary Lising, and  Gretchen Barretto.

Other stars spotted include Tirso Cruz III and wife Lyn, Carmi Martin, Antoinette Taus and brother Tom, Melissa Mendez, Isabel Lopez, Jose Marie Chan and Marjorie Barretto.  

Mark’s sister Cherie Gil was also early, attending to the preparations for the event. Gabby Eigenmann, the eldest of Mark’s children, also came early, accompanied by his wife.

Actor Sid Lucero, who was abroad taping for his show My Destiny when Mark died, arrived at the chapel, and wept upon seeing the urn  containing his father’s ashes.

Mark’s wife, Maricar Jacinto-Eigenmann, and his other children – Ira, Maxine, Andi and Stevie were present. Actress Bing Pimentel, Mark’s ex-wife, was also in attendance. Mark’s parents Eddie Mesa and Rosemarie Gil, brother Michael de Mesa, and nephew Geoff were also spotted at the chapel.  

On Tuesday, September 2, Andi posted a photo of her and her dad, writing about how much she misses him.

“If I could get another chance, another walk, another dance with him, I’d play a song that would never ever end. How I’d love to dance with my father again. I miss you dad. Lots of love always, always from your superstar and most loyal fans. Ever ever,” the caption read.

Video presentations of the actor’s life were also shown on screen including photos of his family and scenes froms some of his memorable films anf TV roles. 

Rappler was able to talk to Gabby Eigenmann, and the actor said that while they cannot grant interviews, the family is thankful for the tributes to the actor. 

UPDATE: On Thursday, September 4, Gabby posted this message on Instagram, thanking people for their support during this difficult time for their family. 

Meanwhile, a report by Pep quoted Cherie Gil as saying that Mark’s remains will be divided among family members, with some of it taken to the Montemar Beach in Bataan, one of the actor’s favorite places.
