Paolo Bediones speaks up about sex video scandal
The TV host and anchor went on indefinite leave from newscasting but continues to host his public affairs programs
MANILA, Philippines – TV 5 host and news anchor Paolo Bediones has finally spoken up about the sex video that went viral last July.

According to an interview with Ricky Lo published in The Philippine Star Wednesday, September 10, Paolo said that he’s trying to be busy with the new restaurants he’s planning to put up.

“I guess you could say that I’m trying to be okay. I’m keeping myself busy. I’m attending to the three restaurants that are set to open soon. One is a resto-pub called Puñta, the Pampanga delicatessen called Balé and the beer place called Hoolala. I am also training with the Philippines Air Force to be an officer of the Reserve Corps, which is part of Rescue5,” Paolo said.

When asked about sex video, which was uploaded in 2 parts,  Paolo said that as much as possible, he would prefer not to comment about it.

“It’s still very fresh and it still stings a lot. That much I can say right now,” he said.

Paolo follows up by saying: “What else can anyone expect in a situation like that? I guess it felt like the whole world crumbled on you. But even if at a certain point parang tumigil ang mundo mo, the reality is that the world will keep on turning.

“The question is, ‘Do you want to stop and let the whole world get ahead of you? Or do you want to stay on the bus and try to survive the bumpy ride?’ I have chosen to do the latter — try to survive the bumpy ride. What can you do? Life must go on.”

When asked what he learned from the episode, Paolo said: “Well, let me put it this way: I don’t want it to happen to anyone else. For one, sana mahuli  (I hope the person is caught), whoever is behind it and made to answer the crime so that people will know that what was done is really a crime. As I said, I don’t wish it to happen to anyone. People must be imagining what I’ve been through but they’ll never know how painful the experience is.”

Paolo has since gone to the authorities to seek help to keep the video from spreading further. TV5 also supported Paolo, saying that they are behind him in the issue.

Paolo also took the opportunity to thank his family and friends who rallied and supported him in his ordeal. He also thanked the bashers, because according to him, “the more they bash me, the more I feel the love of other people who are sympathetic to me.”

Meanwhile, Peachy Guioguio, TV5’s Corporate Communications head, confirmed to Rappler that Paolo is on indefinite leave from the news.

“Paolo is still on a voluntary indefinite leave of absence as a news anchor of TV5. He still hosts his public affairs programs Demolition Job, and Rescue5,” she said.

It was previously reported that Paolo resigned from his job as a newcaster due to the issue. – Rappler.com
