His daughter, Senator Grace Poe, said that while everyone remembers her father’s movies down to the iconic lines, they also remember the good deeds he accomplished in his lifetime.

“Marami sa ating ang nakakaalala sa mga pelikula ni FPJ. Sino ba naman ang hindi nakakalimot sa pelikulang katulad ng Panday, Kapag Puno na Ang Salop, Muslim 357, Kahit Konting Pagtingin. O mga dialogue na ‘Pinuno mo na ang salop, Judge dapat ka nang kalusin’ or ‘Isang bala ka lang.’ Lahat iyan ay hindi natin nakakalimutan. Ngunit si FPJ ay hindi nakakalimutan dahil lang sa mga pelikula niya. Naalala natin si FPJ dahil sa kanyang pagkatao at pakikitungo sa tao,” she said during the 10th death anniversary commemoration of the actor in North Cemetery, Sunday, December 14.

(Many of us remember FPJ’s films. Who will not remember movies like Panday, Kapag Puno na Ang Salop, Muslim 357, Kahit Konting Pagtingin? Or dialogues such as ‘Pinuno mo na any salop, Judge, dapat ka nang kalusin, or Isang bala ka lang.’ All of these we will never forget . But FPJ is remembered not just for his movies. Everyone remembers FPJ because of his humanity and the way he treated people.)

FPJ’s friend and supporter Rez Cortez agreed. 

“Sa tingin ko ang 10 taon ng kanyang paglisan ay wala lang siya dito pero ang espiritu niya ay kasama pa rin natin at nakikita ko na nalalapit na ang bagong umaga,” he said. 

(I think in the 10 years since his death, he is not physically here, but his spirit is still with us and we see the coming of a new day.) 

Cortez, who was one of the supporters of the late actor when he ran for the 2004 elections, also praised Sen. Grace Poe, whom he said is doing well in her job as a public servant.

During the mass, Poe was asked what would have been her father’s advice to her if her were still alive. Her mother Susan Roces was also at the event.
