Although not a part of the nominees for Best Animated Feature Film for the Oscars 2015, The Lego Movie was the Critics’ Choice Winner for Best Animated Feature.

Kevin Costner received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his illustrious career in both film and television. He thanked the people he’s worked with, his parents, and others who believed in him, most especially his children who have given him continuous support. He then shed light on the routine of actors and actresses, and the daily grind in Hollywood. “Nobody has it better than the actors, so try to act great.”

Director Ron Howard received the Louis XIII Genius Award, an honor given to an icon who has displayed excellence in cinema.

Jessica Chastain bagged the last of the special awards, as she received the Critics’ Choice Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award for her performances in A Most Violent Year, The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, and Interstellar.

In her acceptance speech, she talked equally being a team player as much as an actor, and to speak up whenever possible. “I encourage everyone in this room to please speak up.”

The ceremony took place at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, with Live with Kelly and Michael‘s Michael Strahan as host. – Rappler.com
