FULL RECAP: ‘The Voice PH’ Season 2 grand finals

Let’s take a look at all the events leading up to the big announcement: 

The evening opened with comments from the artists that the top 4 sang with Saturday, February 28, with each one praising the young singers of The Voice of the Philippines. (READ: Full recap: ‘The Voice PH’ top 4 at the grand finals, day 1)

The first number of the night – the top 4 of season 2 with the top 4 of the first season. The finalists have finally come to this point, and there’s no turning back. 

First solo performances 

Now for the solo performances, Rence took to the stage with “Tayo’y Mga Pinoy,” adding to the theatrical song his own earnest sincerity and flair. 

He then introduced Leah Patricio, whom he said was a big sister to him in the competition. 

Leah kicked off with a subtle and elegant rendition of “Run to You,” building up to the big notes, in line with her signature style. 

Leah then introduced Jason, describing him as her friend since the blind auditions. Jason sang “Angels Brought Me Here.” 

Jason then introduced Alisah, whom he called the baby of their family on The Voice. 

Alisah launched straight into a cover of “Go the Distance” from Hercules. 

No comments from the judges this round – each number transitioned seamlessly into the next. 

Voting lines were reopened, immediately closed after the commercial break, and reopened again after the next round. These were added to the votes from Saturday night’s performances, and then the votes from the duets with coaches.

Top 4 duets with coaches

This was the lineup for the duets with the coaches:

• Leah Patricio and Lea Salonga:“If I Were A Boy”/ “You Oughta Know,” arranged by Gerard Salonga 

• Jason Dy and Sarah Geronimo: “If I Ain’t Got You” arranged by Cesar Aguas 

• Alisah Bonaobra with Apl de Ap: “Hero” / “You Can Do Anything,” arranged by Mon Faustino

• Rence Rapanot and Bamboo: “Hinahanap-Hanap Kita,” arranged by Ria Osorio

This round was followed by a special performance from the 4 coaches. 

Top 2 announcement

After another commercial break, Jason and Alisah were named the top 2 (in no particular order), while Rence and Leah were eliminated from the competition. 

Losing no time, Jason and Alisah moved forward to the next round, with Jason performing first. 

Solo round, finals 

• Jason Dy: “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin” 

• Alisah Bonaobra: “All By Myself” 

Asked who they thought should win, this is what Lea and Bamboo said:

• Lea: “As far as my own personal taste, Jason.” 
• Bamboo: “Hmm…congratulations to the both of you. I gotta go with Alisah.” 

In their final pitch to viewers, supportive coaches Sarah G and Apl said: 

Sarah on Jason: “He is the voice of today, he is a world-class talent and he deserves to be heard all over the world.”

Apl on Alisah: “Ngayong gabi binuhos mo lahat ng emotions…siya po ang future ng industriyang ito. APL: Alisah, perfect lagi. Alisah, panalo lagi.”

(Tonight, you put in all your emotions… she is the future of this industry. APL: Alisah, always perfect. Alisah, always winning.)

Big win

Jason was finally announced the winner, taking over 52.94% of the public vote. “Maraming maraming salamat, thank you so much Lord, you are amazing,” he said through tears. 

After his win, Jason, who was interviewed by reporters shared what he has learned from his coach Sarah Geronimo.
