‘Frozen 2’ is happening, Disney confirms

LOS ANGELES, USA – Note to young girls around the world: Elsa is coming back to a theater near you. 

Disney Animation announced Thursday, March 12, that a sequel to the animated mega-hit Frozen is in the works. (WATCH: New ‘Frozen Fever’ trailer shows Elsa prepping for Anna’s birthday)

The studio tweeted the news, saying:

Frozen director Jennifer Lee, who will return to direct the sequel with Chris Buck, displayed her excitement on Twitter:

Actress Kristen Bell, who voiced the whimsical princess Anna, tweeted a photo of her resting on a block of ice, saying:

Frozen has raked in nearly $1.3 billion in worldwide ticket sales – a record for the studio. It is also one of the top grossing films of all time.

It won two Oscars last year – for best animated feature and best original song for the ubiquitous “Let It Go.” – Rappler.com
