MANILA, Philippines – Actress Amalia Fuentes did not hold back her anger, saying she was left out of participating fully in the funeral arrangements of her late daughter, actress Liezl Martinez.

According to an ABS-CBN report, Amalia said that her daughter’s family, including Liezl’s husband Albert Martinez and kids, “shut her away” from Liezl.

Liezl died on March 14 after battling breast cancer. She was 47 years old.

Amalia claimed that she and her ex-husband Romeo Vasquez were not even mentioned by the host during a ceremony at the Arlington Memorial Chapel.

“The host of whatever is this place mentioned everybody pati yung friend ni Liezl, everybody except me and her father.  Bobby (Romeo’s nickname) spent one week with Liezl in California and wala man lang mention sa aming dalawa (and there was no mention of the two of us),” she said.

“Liezl is irreplaceable in my life. She is my only child. Everyone else there now can replace her,” she added, saying that Albert can remarry, while the children will find in-laws when they get married.

Ako, I can never replace my daughter. I am the one among all of them who has the biggest loss, the greatest loss. All this time, they shut me from her life because they wanted to just sila-sila. (just keep to themselves).”

Ako, I was just in the sidelines, just watching that Liezl is all right.

Andito ako sa (I was here in the) sidelines because I know she’s married and that is what her husband requires her na sila-sila lang (just them).

“So, for the longest time, I was never part of their life, but I was always there for her.”

Amalia said that she was late to the cremation, because she was not informed and was merely treated as a “guest” and not a family member.

She also said that she never intruded in Liezl and Albert’s married life despite the reports that she was against their relationship from the start.

Liezl was 18 when she met Albert. The two eloped and left for the United States to start a family. Since then, it was reported that Amalia and Albert didn’t always get along.

After issuing the statement, she went back to the hospital, where she is confined. It was reported she had a breakdown after Liezl’s death last Saturday.

Before leaving, Amalia saw her nephew Aga Muhlach, who tried to comfort her.

Meanwhile on Instagram, Liezl’s eldest daughter Alyanna thanked everyone for their prayers and good wishes, and that the family would like to grieve by themselves.

“I have never seen the Aeternum so quiet and beautiful and peaceful as it is now with no one around. It is usually so noisy and chaotic. Last ones ‘standing’ with #QueenBabyChanel to keep me company as we spend Mama’s physical body’s last day on earth together. Thank you to everyone who sent their condolences, sent over flowers and prayers cards and visited my family during this trying time to offer support and pay their respects.

“The painful process now begins as we head back home later after her cremation ceremony to a home no longer with her and we start to slowly pick up the pieces and build together again our broken and grieving hearts. Mama is in heaven now and all we ask is for everyone to respect my family’s privacy as we continue to grieve and heal,” Alyanna wrote.

Friends and showbiz colleagues have paid tributes to Liezl, a former child star. Liezl was cremated on Monday, March 16. –Rappler.com
