MANILA, Philippines – Actor Robin Padilla has asked businessman Rey Pamaran to forgive former co-star Melissa Mendez regarding the Cebu Pacific deplaning incident.

In an Instagram post made on Friday, March 27, Robin posted a photo of a headline of Rey Pamaran filing a 3-million slander case against Mendez. Along with it he wrote a statement, saying:

“Sir, it will be very good for everybody, especially to the young men of sports/bodybuilding and law school, if the both of you will set an example of practicing the code of chivalry.

(Melissa is already 50 years old, she’s a small woman, and she’s not really financially stable. She only saved enough money for her family.

I’m not interfering; I only want to make an appeal. I believe that the two of you are honorable people and you both won’t back down from a fight, but Melissa has humbled herself and she asked for forgiveness.

It’s clear that she doesn’t want to fight anymore.

The Katipunan is praying for the resolution of this misunderstanding; that it will serve as a lesson to all plane passengers, female or male. The Revolutionaries of Peace will be in your debt if you forgive Melissa Mendez.)

Robin was referring to Mendez’s apology to Pamaran on Tuesday, March 24. Hours after the apology was posted on Instagram, Pamaran rejected it. He then filed a P3 million suit against Mendez for slander on Wednesday, March 25.

UPDATE: On Friday evening, March 27, Pamaran responded to Robin’s appeal, in a statement emailed to Rappler by lawyer Raymond Fortun:

“Your intentions are good. But you should instead appeal to Melissa to tell the truth, so that this case can be amicably settled,”

Robin Padilla and Melissa Mendez were former co-stars on ABS-CBN’s Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw. Robin top-billed the show with Kris Aquino and Anne Curtis, while Mendez was a guest star. – Rappler.com
