MANILA, Philippines – Looks like we’ll get to watch Mulan’s adventures on the big screen again!

Disney confirmed that there will be a live-action film of Mulan, having bought the script from writing team Elizabeth Martin and Laura Hynek, whose writing focused on the titular warrior Hua Mulan. Chris Bender and JC Spink were also announced as the film producers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

So far, no casting news nor a release date were announced for this film. 

The 1998 animated movie Mulan told the story of a young woman named Fa Mulan, who disguised herself as a man to take over her ailing father’s place in the war.

She is accompanied by dragon sidekick Mushu and bug Cri-Kee, and through her perseverance and determination, became the hero that saved China.

The film also top-billed Ming-Na Wen and B.D. Wong for the roles of Mulan and Captain Li Shang, Mulan’s love interest. 

Lea Salonga, however, provided the singing voice for Mulan, and Donny Osmond for Li Shang.
