Highlights: The Rock, John Legend, more in ‘Lip Sync Battle’ premiere

MANILA, Philippines – The Rock shakes it off, Jimmy Fallon calls in a choir, and Common and John Legend go head to head!

The season premiere of Spike TV’s Lip Sync Battle kicked off on Thursday, April 2 (Friday, April 3 in Manila) with epic, sure-to-remember performances from A-List celebrities. (WATCH: Anna Kendrick, Jennifer Lopez in ‘Lip Sync Battle’ trailer)

The show, based on Jimmy Fallon’s Lip Sync Battle segment on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, has similar mechanics. A pair of celebrities outperform each other by lip-syncing to the songs they have chosen. The audience members will choose one winner from the pair.

Two battles kicked off the season premiere with the first being Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson vs Jimmy Fallon, and the second with Common and John Legend.

Here’s a rundown of what the contestants performed tonight:

Battle 1: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson vs Jimmy Fallon

The very competitive Dwayne first performed Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off”:

In the video below, talk show host Jimmy Fallon, who is also the co-producer of Lip Sync Battle, performed “Jump in the Line (Shake, Senora)” by Harry Belafonte for his first song.

Dwayne sang “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees to open the second round. Jimmy then followed with “Like A Prayer” by Madonna, and even had a choir help him out.

For the first round, Common performed “I Want You Back” by The Jackson Five, while John Legend performed “Slow Motion” by Juvenile:
