MANILA, Philippines – Here’s another exciting addition to the star-studded cast: Sir Ian McKellen! 

According to Variety, the actor is set to play the master of the castle Cogsworth in the upcoming live-action Disney film Beauty and The Beast. He joins Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, and Josh Gad in the cast.

In the 1991 animated film, Cogsworth was the Butler who was turned into a clock following a curse that was set on the castle by an enchantress as payback for the Beast’s cruelty. He shared a love-hate relationship with his BFF, the candelabra Lumiere.

Ian is also currently working on his role in upcoming movie Mr. Holmes, where he plays a 93-year old Sherlock who wants to solve one final case. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Emma Thompson will play motherly teapot Mrs. Potts, and Kevin Kline will star as Belle’s father Maurice. The same report also said that the film will reportedly be released on March 17, 2017.
