Stephen Hawking on Zayn Malik, One Direction fans

MANILA, Philippines – Here’s one reason to follow theoretical physics, according to the great physicist Stephen Hawking – and it has to do with ex-One Direction band member Zayn Malik.

“My advice to any heartbroken young girl is to pay attention to the study of theoretical physics because, one day, there may well be proof of multiple universes,” Hawking said, when asked about “the cosmological effect of Zayn leaving One Direction.”

“It would not be beyond the realms of possibility that somewhere outside of our own universe lies another, different universe and, in that universe, Zayn is still in One Direction.”

He added this: “This girl may like to know that in another possible universe, she and Zayn are happily married.”

Hawking appeared via hologram from the United Kingdom at the Sydney Opera House Saturday, April 25.

Aside from his comments on Zayn, Hawking also spoke about his thoughts on The Theory of Everything, which chronicles his life from his years as a university student to his ALS diagnosis, and his subsequent achievements despite his health.

“It was surprisingly honest about our marriage…It was as close as I’ll ever get to travelling back in time,” he said. He previously praised actor Eddie Redmayne’s performance in the film, which won Redmayne his first Oscar earlier this year. – Rappler.com
