MANILA, Philippines – Gerald Anderson denied rumors that Janice de Belen, who played his mom in Budoy, was the reason for the breakup of his relationship with Maja Salvador.

In an interview with reporters at the Star Magic Games Sunday, May 3, Gerald said he hopes people will stop dragging Janice into the issue. 

“Hindi ko nga alam kung papatulan pa ‘yan. Nakakahiya sa pamilya ni ate Janice. Tinext ko nga siya. Tinanong ko kung okay lang sila kasi napakawalang kwenta naman ng [istorya na ‘yan]. Sana tigilan na kasi nakakahiya sa ibang tao,” Gerald said. 

(I do not know if we should even talk about it. It’s very embarassing to Janice’s family. I texted her. I asked if they were okay because the story was pointless. I hope people will stop because it’s really embarassing to other people.)

“Ako na lang ang i-bash, huwag na madamay yung ibang tao,” he said. “Of course [okay pa rin kami]. Nanay ko ‘yun.”

(Just bash me, don’t involve other people.  Of course [we’re okay]. She’s practically like a mom to me.)

He also said that he and Maja are okay despite the breakup.

“Siyempre naman. Hindi naman po biro ang pinagdaanan namin. As long as nandoon ang respeto namin,” he said.

(Of course. What we’ve been through was not easy. As long as as our respect for each other is there.) 

As for his working relationship with Isabelle Daza, who is one of his partners in Nathaniel, Gerald said: “Great working relationship. She’s very down-to-earth and sobrang humble and very hardworking.”

Meanwhile, Gerald said he is focusing on his work, sports and his new show Nathaniel.

“Happy ako. Halos lahat happy din. Itong taon na ‘to. Puro trabaho, puro pamilya ko at sarili ko ang [focus] ko this year. Magpapahinga muna [ang puso ko],” he said.

(I am very happy. Everyone is happy. This is how many years. This year, it’s all about work, my family and myself that I will [focus] on. I will give my heart a break.)

“Ewan ko kung napapansin niyo sa Instagram ko pero wala akong ginagawa kundi mag-work out or mag-basketball. ‘Yung [sports and] ‘yung trabaho, ang makapagpasaya ng tao gaya ng ‘Nathaniel,’ yun lang ang iniisip ko ngayon, ‘yun lang ang focus ko.”
