MANILA, Philippines – Singer Mark Bautista said that his 53-year-old father Leon Darny Bautista III is now recovering from a stroke, which according to his mom Susan, had him 77% paralyzed.

In an interview on Startalk Saturday, May 23, Mark said that his father cannot speak for now after being released from the hospital.

Kakalabas lang niya ng ospital. Hindi pa rin siya makalakad. Yung speech niya hindi pa maayos so nagthe-therapy siya sa ngayon,” he said.

(He just left the hospital. He cannot walk yet. He can’t speak so well yet, so he is undergoing speech therapy.)

Nagiging emotional siya ngayon ewan ko kung bakit…hindi kasi ako masyadong ma ‘I love you’ kay Papa. I love you.’”

(He is more emotional and I do not know why…I’m not really the type to say ‘I love you’ to Papa. When he suffered a stroke, I was really shaken. When I called him on the phone even when I was talking to him, I was just saying ‘Pa I love you, I love you.)

Pa I love you, I love you so much.

(I just want to tell him that I really love him. Pa I love you, I love you so much. Get well soon. I told him that when you suffer a stroke, you might lose energy, get depressed, or lose hope. But I want to tell him that we still have so many plans in life and that he needs to regain his strength, so he’ll be encouraged to continue his therapy, and believe he’ll be able to speak and walk again.) – Rappler.com
