Heart Evangelista opens up on parents, Chiz Escudero’s meeting

MANILA, Philippines – Heart Evangelista said that she is very happy that the relationship between her parents Rey and Cecile Ongpauco and Heart’s husband Senator Chiz Escudero is slowly improving. 

“Nakakapanibago. Masarap na nabunutan ako ng tinik. Yung birthday dinner ng mommy ko, nandoon na rin siya. Nag-warm up na rin sila. Sobrang saya,” Heart said in an interview on Startalk, Saturday, May 30. 

(It’s very new to me. It’s nice because I feel like a thorn has been taken out. At my mom’s birthday dinner, he was there. They’ve warmed up [to him]. It was really nice.)

“Every day ko siya dinasal, walang sawa. Kahit pakiramdam ko medyo imposible, kahit hindi sila pumunta sa kasal ko, yung parang nakarating ako sa point na ang pakiramdam mo, wala ng chance.

(Every day, I prayed for it without fail. Even when I felt it was impossible. Even if they did not attend my wedding, like I felt like there was a point where you feel, there’s no chance.)

“Ever since before, as a little girl, strong yung faith ko na ‘pag talagang dinasal mo at hiningi mo na maganda naman ang intensyon mo. Basta malinis naman ang puso mo, bibigay ‘yan sa ‘yo ng Diyos. Ang sarap ng pakiramdam na buo ang pamilya,” Heart added.

(Ever since before I was a little girl, my faith was already strong, that if you prayed for something and your intentions are good…As long as your heart is good, God will give it to you. It just feels good the family is complete.)

Heart said that with everything behind them, she is able to see her parents more often. 

“Medyo on cloud nine pa ako kasi hindi ako makapaniwala sa mga nangyayari,” she added. (I’m still on cloud nine because I could not believe with everything that has happened.)

In a previous interview, Chiz confirmed that he did see Heart’s parents. Although he declined to share the details, he said that he hopes that it is the start of a better relationship between them.

Heart’s parents previously disapproved her relationship with Chiz, saying that he was not a good influence on her, asking him to leave Heart alone. But Heart refused and fought for the relationship. (READ:Chiz, Heart: Against all odds?)

Last February 15, Heart married Chiz in Balesin Island Club and had a special reception in Manila, which Heart’s parents did not attend. –Rappler.com
