MANILA, Philippines – As the finals of Your Face Sounds Familiar approaches, the final 4 – Edgar Allan Guzman, Melai Cantiveros, JayR and Nyoy Volante – said they are excited to move into the final round of the competition. (READ: Final 4 of ‘Your Face Sounds Familiar’ revealed)

But they also took the opportunity to answer criticism after the results were announced last Sunday, May 31. Edgar Allan said that for him, he takes the bashing as a challenge. 

“Nire-respeto ko ang opinyon ng mga tao at tanggap ko ‘yon kasi it’s their opinion. Hindi ko kayang i-please lahat. Tinatanggap ko siya as challenge yon sa akin para i-prove sa kanila na karapat-dapat ako doon sa Top 4,” he said.

(I respect the people’s opinion and I accept it because it’s their opinion. I cannot please everyone. I just accept it as a challenge for me to prove to them that I deserve to be in the Top 4.) 

JayR said he respects freedom of speech. 

“You have freedom of speech and you’re exercising that but negative becomes too negative and you know, we’re here about positivity, we’re here about having fun so let’s just focus on that.”

Melai had this to say: “Hindi naman natin mapipigilan ang mga nangbabash dahil ganun naman ang roles nila sa buhay. Respeto na lang tayo at tsaka masaya naman ako…I cannot believe na nasa Top 4 ako so thank you na lang sa iyong mga nangbabash.”

(We cannot stop them from bashing since that’s what they do in life. Let’s just respect it and I am very happy…I cannot believe I made the top 4 so I’ll just say thank you to those who are bashing.)

“At least nakikita niyo na they are really into the show and the reason they are affected, unang una mahal nila ang sinusuportahan nila. Involved sila sa nangyayari sa show,” said Nyoy. 

(At least we see that they are really into the show, and the reason they’re affected is really because they love the one they’re supporting. They’re involved with what’s happening on the show.)

“We would just like to reassure everyone na that’s among our supporters and fans pero sa aming walo ay walang naging problema.” (There’s no conflict with the 8 of us.)

The 4 also defended the judges, saying they were just doing their jobs.

“Huwag naman silang ganyan at kawawa naman ang mga judge. Ginawa naman nila ang trabaho nila. Kumbaga job lang namin ito,” Melai said.

(They [the bashers] should not be like that to the judges. They are just doing their job. For them it’s work.)

JayR added: “At the same time we’re all friends there, magkakakilala lahat so bakit pa magbibigay pa kami ng negative na vibe?”

(We’re all friends there, we all know each other, so why would we go on with negative vibes?)

Unlike the previous weeks where the judges have a say in their ranking, the finals will be determined by text voting. All 4 agree that this is fair.

“For me fair iyon para ang taong bayan ang mag-desisyon kung sino talaga (for the the people to decide on the finalists) for our last week,” Edgar said.

“Sana piliin nila kung sino ang pinaka the best,” Melai added. (i just hope they will choose the best.)

“Ang ating audience, they really love the show, that’s why number 1 ang Your Face. So at least this a way of giving back to the audience, may say talaga sila sa ating mga champion,” JayR said.

Gearing up 

Expect nothing less than for all 4 to go all out, they say. 

“Very big icon yung pinili ko (I chose). Talagang sasabihin ko na (I will have to say) everyone’s gonna enjoy me being this icon,” JayR shared during the press conference at ABS-CBN Tuesday, June 2.

“Definitely yung icon ko, sobrang ibang-iba sa akin (it’s very different from me),” Nyoy said. 

“Expect that I will give more than what I gave these past 12 performances. I will research, practice, and give my heart and my 110 percent for all of you,” he added.

“Ako naman yung pinili kong icon is nasa comfort zone ko so gagawin ko ang lahat na mapapaindak ang mga tao sa Sabado,” Edgar Allan said.

(For me, the icon I chose is in my comfort zone so I will do everything for the audience to get them moving this Saturday.)

It was also announced that the other participants – Jolina Magdangal, Maxene Magalona, Tutti Caringal, and Karla Estrada will perform a special number.
