Sunshine Cruz on Cesar Montano: Everybody deserves to be happy

‘Basta ako, ang priority ko, ang focus ko yung mga kids,' Sunshine says

MANILA, Philippines – Despite the ongoing legal battle with estranged husband Cesar Montano, actress Sunshine Cruz said that she and the kids are doing very well.

In an interview with reporters at the sidelines of the Pep List Awards Thursday, June 18, Sunshine gave an update on her family, though she didn’t say too much about the case.

“Okay naman kami.  Even the kids are well-adjusted. Last year nag-transfer sila sa La Salle (Zobel) and honor students silang lahat…So doon sa kaganapan na iyon well adjusted na sila,” Sunshine said.

(We’re okay. Even the kids are well-adjusted. Last year, they transferred to La Salle and all of them are honor students…So on that end, I think they are well-adjusted.)

“And ako naman so far so good, diretso naman ang trabaho natin (our work is consistent). But we’re okay.”

When asked about Cesar, Sunshine said she really would rather not talk about him, especially the child abuse case filed against him. (Sunshine Cruz to pursue child abuse case vs Cesar Montano)

“May gag order kami against the case pero you have to do what you have to do,” she said.

She also mentioned that her daughters are not really looking for their dad.

On Cesar, Sandra

Sunshine was also asked about the issue on Cesar and supposed girlfriend, former beauty queen Sandra Seifert, who has been facing pregnancy rumors – which Cesar previously denied. The actress said it’s Cesar’s life and she would rather focus on her children.

Basta ako, ang priority ko, ang focus ko yung mga kids. Whatever ang buhay niya I think everybody deserves to be happy. We’ve been separated for two years. Hindi man sa papel kasi hindi pa naman legal na hiwalay kami (though not officially) but I believe everybody deserves to be happy and if he’s happy good for him,” she said.

As for the pregnancy rumor, Sunshine said it was her daughters who told her about it.

Mas nauna silang nakaalam (They were the first to know)… Angelina (her eldest daughter) showed it to me. And ang reaction lang ng mga anak ko (the reaction of my children) is ‘ Mom we’re going to have siblings naman pala uli.’

Ako naman I’m always there to tell them kung sino man iyan kung ano man ang lumabas, blessing iyan at wala naman silang kasalanan sa nangyayari. Kasi hindi naman itong mga girls na ito if ever totoo ang naging cause ng separation namin ng tatay ninyo. So huwag kayo magipon ng tampo or sama ng loob. Bilang nanay tuturuan, mo ba magalit ang anak mo sa mundo?  I don’t think they deserve that,” Sunshine said.

(I’m always there to tell them whoever that person is, whatever comes out, that’s a blessing and they have no fault with what happened. Because these girls, if it’s true, did not cause the separation between me and your father. So don’t hold on to bad feelings. As a mother, would you teach your children to be angry at the world?)

With Father’s Day coming up, Sunshine was also asked if she will allow Cesar to spend time with the kids.

“I got the full custody and he’s denied of visitorial rights. I think I deserve that [Father’s Day] award… I think I do because I have been a mother and father to my kids for the past two years,” Sunshine said. – Rappler.com
