MTRCB summons ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ execs over complaints on show
The 'developmental conference' is scheduled on July 9

MANILA, Philippines – The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has summoned the executives of ABS-CBN and Pinoy Big Brother 737 over complaints about the show’s content.

In a letter sent by MTRCB co-chairperson Ricardo Salomon Jr to Raymond Dizon, business unit head of ABS-CBN, and 7 program officers for a developmental conference scheduled on July 9.

According to the letter dated June 24, the MTRCB asked ABS-CBN to explain the “safety measures” they are placing on the show. PBB 737 is aired on ABS-CBN Channel 2 and Sky Premium Channel 85.

In the said conference, we would like to know what safety measures you have in place so as to guarantee that no participant in your program is exposed to situations, challenges and experiences which may be prejudicial to his or her well-being or which may have a negative impact on the youth and other audiences who will be watching your show,” the letter stated.

While it was not clear in the official letter which complaints the MTRCB was referring to, a number of occurrences have had fans on the show talking, including various blooming romances and other close relationships portrayed on the show.

PBB has yet to issue a statement as of this time.

The show has found itself the subject of controversy a number of times. Last year, PBB executives were also called to a conference with MTRCB over a controversial nude painting challenge– Rappler.com
