Ai-Ai delas Alas gives update on Jiro Manio
Ai-Ai also defends Jiro's foster father Andrew Manio from critics who say that he did not raise the former child actor well

MANILA, Philippines – Actress Ai-Ai delas Alas said on Saturday, July 11, that former child actor Jiro Manio is now doing well after he was found roaming around the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in June.

In a live interview on Startalk, Ai-Ai said that she has already spoken with the doctor at the wellness facility where Jiro is undergoing treatment.

(Jiro is doing well and he is recovering. The doctor told me that he’ll be okay in around 3 to 4 months.)

Ai-Ai also defended Jiro’s foster father Andrew Manio from the critics who say that he did not raise the former child actor well.

(That’s not true, because when Jiro was still small, we saw all the hard work Daddy (Andrew) went through to raise him. He would feed Jiro, carry him, and put him to sleep. Jiro really just has a personal problem.)

As for Jiro’s plans after his treatment, Ai-Ai said it’s too early to say anything, but the actor mentioned that he is not keen on going back to showbiz. (READ: Jiro Manio done with showbiz, says he has nowhere to go)

Sa ganito pong state, ayaw niya talaga mag-artista.

(At this state, he really does not want to go back to showbiz. So let’s see, when he gets out and he’s already well. Let’s see what he wants because I told him that whatever makes him happy, whatever will give him peace in his life, that’s where we will go.)

Hindi kita pipilitin yung hindi mo gusto. Ang gusto ko lang gumaling siya at maging maayos yung buhay niya(I won’t force you if you don’t like it. What I want is just for him to get well and that he gets his life back on track),” she added.

Ai-Ai was one of the stars who immediately offered to help Jiro after he was found at the airport. Ai-Ai also mentioned that Marvin Agustin and Lorna Tolentino have offered to help Jiro. (READ: PH stars express concern for Jiro Manio)

Meanwhile, Andrew Manio, who was also on the show, along with Jiro’s brother Anjo Santos, said all that he wishes for Jiro is for him to help himself.

Sana tulungan niya ang sarili niya. Siya lang ang makakatulong sa sarili niya. Iyon po, suporta na lang po ang ibibigay ko sa kanya (I hope he will help himself. He is the only one who can help himself. The support, that’s all I can give him),” he said.

Anjo also gave a message to his brother.

(I hope he changes already, that he’ll fix his life, because I’m here for him. I won’t abandon him because the two of us, we’re like partners in crime. So I hope he’ll help himself.)

UPDATE: On July 21,Ai-Ai also took to Instagram and post photos of Jiro. She took it upon herself to address false death rumors about Jiro, saying: ” ETO SYA SUPER HEALTHY….

(Here he is, super healthy. He’s okay and alive. I hope those who are spreading reports that he’s dead will stop it already.)
