Young actor in a frenzy

MANILA, Philippines – “La vida es un frenesí,” or life is a frenzy when it comes to Alden Richards’ work schedule.

The Kapuso fair-haired boy is excited about the movie “10,000 Hours” wherein he plays a young Panfilo Lacson.

The movie is an official entry in the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival. The movie’s lead actor, Robin Padilla, will play Lacson in his later years until the present.

Alden is overwhelmed by the experience of working in a big project that requires a thorough performance.

He currently stars in the GMA-7 primetime series, “Mundo Mo’y Akin,” which was extended for another month because of good ratings.

Shooting a movie and taping a TV drama have made his work schedule quite hectic. But Alden has no complaints because he is determined to be professional in everything he does.

“Mahirap, pero kakayanin ko ito,” he said. (It’s difficult, but I can manage this.) “Kahit na nagkakagulo na sa schedules ko [Despite the frenzy in my schedules], I can’t complain [because] I love what I’m doing.

“Tito Robin and I are both playing the same character, kaya wala akong chance na makasama siya sa isang eksena [that’s why I won’t have the chance to be with him in any one scene]. But the thought of being in this movie excites me a lot.

“It’s my first action movie and I have to train how to use a gun with my right hand. Like Tito Robin, I’m left-handed, kaya malaking challenge ito for me [that’s why this is a big challenge for me].”

Alden is one of the more promising young actors in the Kapuso network, and big projects are lined up for him until the end of the year.

“I’m happy that our series was extended for another month. We should have been finished in July. But since the ratings are doing good, they want us to [do] 4 more weeks.

“I will soon have a new endorsement and I pray that more will come. I am trying my best to look good and keep my image wholesome.

“But I would like to do an indie film someday. Nakakainggit ang mga [It’s enviable, these] young actors who are doing these off-beat roles. Sana mapagbigyan naman ako [I wish they’d give me the chance] just to show them my versatility as an actor.” – Rappler.com
