Carla Abellana back to work

MANILA, Philippines – Carla Abellana has just recovered from her illness brought about by stress.

The actress said she was hospitalized early this month.

Aside from her now-famous role as Lally in the hit gay serye, “My Husband’s Lover,” she has also been doing regional shows for the Kapuso network.

Carla, who comes from a family of actors (her father is Rey “PJ” Abellana and grandmother is Delia Razon), is much admired for her dedication to her work.

But the 27-year-old actress-model also needed to pace herself.

“It all started with a simple cold, then it turned into a fever,” she said of her recent illness.

“I thought mawawala agad when I took medicine, kasi may taping pa ako ng [I thought I’d feel better when I took medicine, because I still had a taping for] ‘My Husband’s Lover.’

“I literally forced myself to work because ayokong maging cause of delay sa tapings namin [I didn’t want to be the cause of delay in our tapings].

“Good thing, though, noong mag-pack-up na kami, doon na ako nakaramdam ng hindi maganda. Ang ending, sa ospital ang bagsak ko.”

(Good thing, though, it was only when were packing up that I began feeling terrible. I had to check in the hospital.)

“Stress-related naman lahat. Hindi lang kinaya ng katawan ko ang sunud-sunod na puyat at pagod.”

(It was all stress-related. All that exhaustion and staying up late.)

“The doctor advised me to rest for at least 3 days para makabawi ng lakas [to recover strength].”

“Now I’m okay and rested. Ready to get back to work.”

Carla was already back to work as soon as she checked out of the hospital. She co-hosted Miss World Philippines 2013 with KC Montero and Victor Basa.

She’s back taping for “My Husband’s Lover,” which the producers had decided to extend to about 3 more weeks from its original run.

“We’re doing the show until October,” said Carla. “But after that, no more extension.”

“Ayaw nilang pahabain pa at baka lumaylay lang daw ang story.”

(They won’t extend it any longer because the story might be stretched too thin.)

“It’s good that every weeknight, inaabangan nila ang mangyayari kina [viewers are waiting to see what will happen to] Lally, Vincent, at Eric.”

After the series, Carla will shoot a film with Tom Rodriguez for Regal Entertainment.

It’s a love story, this time with no character in the way like Dennis Trillo’s.
