Sir Chief proposes to Maya

MANILA, Philippines – Sir Chief and Maya are now officially engaged, reports ABS-CBN.

The lead characters of the popular noontime serye “Be Careful with My Heart,” aired by the said network, have finally sealed a protracted romance that have kept viewers in suspense and also delighted exasperation for more than a year.

Sir Chief and Maya are portrayed by Richard Yap, 46, and Jodi Sta. Maria, 31, whose onscreen chemistry affirms the poignant theme of love as a meaningful, exalted state among people getting older.

The steadfastly light-toned serye is also complemented by the dynamics of the lead characters’ social background – Sir Chief being a businessman with a solid enterprise in the aviation industry, and Maya, a countryside girl in Sir Chief’s household whose great potential enables her to start a new career direction as a flight attendant. 

This facet is further amplified by the characters of Noel Trinidad and Marissa Delgado as Sir Chief’s parents.

The diverse cast of “Be Careful,” among them, Divina Valencia and Janelle Salvador, represents the continuity of the showbiz milieu in its distinct chapters, including today’s era of apps and social media.

The serye is directed by Jeffrey Jeturian, who is also a widely respected filmmaker in independent cinema.

“Be Careful” was first aired on July 9, 2012, immediately thriving on its kilig appeal among televiewers.

In the exquisite restraint of the developing love story between Sir Chief and Maya, the show is a departure from the classic tradition of saucy and spicy melodrama, and not only because of its noontime slot.

Journalist Cheche Lazaro recently aired a documentary on “Be Careful” that serves as a comprehensive pop dissertation on the serye phenomenon.

Now that Ser Chief and Maya are on the way to the altar, how else to sustain viewership interest in their slow-burning romance?
