MANILA, Philippines – Like Nikki Gil, singer and TV host Billy Crawford said he faces the future with confidence.

Of course, he can’t help it if people think about his back story, even with his efforts to “move on” – as the common expression in showbiz goes on the heels of any public breakup among celebrities.

“There’s no reason to dwell on the past,” Billy said. “Nasabi ko na ang mga dapat kong sabihin. [I’ve already said everything there is to say.] I’ve already closed that chapter in my life – closed book na siya.

“So I want to start fresh and always have this smile on my face.”

Billy is also happy with what he has seen to be the reception to “Momzillas,” the newest Wenn Deramas comedy that he stars in, with Eugene Domingo and Diamond Star Maricel Soriano leading the cast.

“I am so fortunate to have worked with the one and only Ms. Maricel Soriano at siya pa ang gumanap na mommy ko [who portrayed my character’s mother].

“[And] working with Eugene Domingo is quite an experience. Wala kayong magagawa kundi tumawa na lang kapag ka-eksena mo siya.” (You can’t help it but laugh when you’re in a scene with her.)

“And thank you so much to our director, Wenn Deramas. Si Direk Wenn actually ‘yung pinaka-close ko dito sa lahat [It’s Direk Wenn who I’m closest to], and it’s such a blessing to walk in [a project that feels light and good] sa trabaho at sobrang gaan ng pakiramdam.

“This is actually my second movie with him. He first directed me in ‘Moron 5 and the Crying Lady.’ Big hit din iyon.” (That was also a big hit.)

Start fresh

Billy is also back in the noontime show ‘It’s Showtime,’ doing what he does best – hosting, singing, connecting with his audience.

“Like what I said, I want to start fresh and this is the proper time to do it.

“Lahat naman tayo may pinagdadaanan sa buhay. [We all go through things in life.] Pero pagdating sa trabaho, wala kaming pinag-uusapang problem [But when it comes to the work, there’s no problem].

“Kaya dun ako blessed [That’s why I feel blessed], that I actually met these people for a reason, kaya sobrang happy ako [which is why I’m very happy].

“And I would love to work with other people if given the opportunity.”

Billy wants to set aside too that nagging rumor linking him with “MomZillas” co-star Andi Eigenmann – which allegedly prompted the breakup with Nikki.

“Andi became a friend of mine when we were making the movie,” Billy said. “We became close, that’s really true, and it wasn’t Andi’s fault. kaya [that’s why] I really apologized to Andi kasi nadadamay siya sa personal life ko [because she was being dragged into my personal matters].” – Rappler.com
