Enchong Dee gets into character

MANILA, Philippines – Kapamilya star Enchong Dee is happy with what he finds to be a fulfilling role in the character Leonel, in the ABS-CBN prime-time series, “Muling Buksan ang Puso.”

In the teleserye, Leonel is head over heels in love with Sarah (played by Julia Montes), but Sarah is in love, not with Leonel, but with Francis (played by Enrique Gil).

The young but remarkably circumspect Enchong, 24, said he really studied his character well – to make Leonel credible for the big scenes to come, as the serye nears its finale on October 4.

Kontrabida challenge

“I’m so challenged by my role as Leonel,” Enchong said. “I live and breath the character once I am on the set.

“Iba pala talaga ang challenge ng pagiging kontrabida [It’s really a challenge to be an antagonist]. And this is my first time to really put myself in a role. Gano’n ko siya kagustong gawin [that’s how much I like to do this part].”

More big scenes will come Leonel’s way, now that he has discovered that Francis is his brother.

“The story gets more intense and interesting,” Enchong said. “Huwag silang bibitaw kasi marami pa ang mangyayari [Many things will happen, so stay tuned], especially now na handa kong agawin si Sarah kay Francis [that I’m determined to steal away Sarah from Francis] at all costs.”

Boyet

Enchong said he was really flattered when Christopher de Leon praised his performance in the teleserye. They were father and son in Laurice Guillen‘s “Sa ‘Yo Lamang.”

“Sobra akong natuwa noong may magsabi sa akin na magaganda ang sinasabi sa akin ni Sir Boyet.”

(I was so pleased when someone told me about the nice things Sir Boyet was saying about me.)

“That praise coming from the Christopher de Leon is priceless. You can never put a price on that.”

“I am thankful that I was able to work with the best actors in the country. Marami pa akong gustong makatrabaho and hopefully mangyari iyon soon [There are so many actors I want to work with and hopefully that happens soon].”

Enchong said he wants to take a vacation before starting a new teleserye.

“After I did ‘Ina, Kapatid, Anak,’ nag-umpisa ako agad [I started right away] with ‘Muling Buksan ang Puso.’ So it’s been a year na wala akong bakasyon na wala akong iniisip na trabaho [that I haven’t had a vacation and all I thought about was work].”

Enchong plans to go with his family to Beijing and Mongolia. “When I return, I will be starting a movie under Star Cinema. Kaya wala munang teleserye [So no teleseryes for the time being].” – Rappler.com
