Heart Evangelista opens up on marriage with Chiz

MANILA, Philippines – Heart Evangelista has decided on spending the rest of her life with boyfriend Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, the actress said in the latest issue of Hola! Philippines magazine.

Evangelista cleared that she “can see marriage down the road, just not tomorrow.” The 28-year-old actress added that she had “already made a decision to be with Chiz for the rest of [her] life.”

In an interview with Showbiz Inside Report in February, Escudero first mentioned that he had plans of marrying Heart within 5 years. 

“Hopefully, yes, and it would be unfair, stupid, and wrong to say that you don’t wish, you don’t want it to head in that direction,” he replied when asked if their relationship was headed towards marriage.

The couple started dating in 2012, to the dismay of Evangelista’s parents. In several interviews and press appearances, her parents expressed their disapproval of the senator.

In one of her statements, Evangelista’s mother, Cecilia Ongpauco called Escudero “rude,” “arrogant,” and “an alcoholic.”

In March, Ongpauco said the senator had “never formally asked for [their] daughter’s hand, or explained how he will support her and his wife at the same time.”

Escudero, in the same Hola! feature, said their relationship is secure despite the controversy.

“We are secure in who we are already, we have less to prove to other people, especially to the other person,” he said.

Escudero’s marriage to Christine Flores was annuled in June 2012, around a month before the couple went public with their relationship. –  Rappler.com
