MANILA, Philippines - Thousands of cyclists rode through the streets of Metro Manila on Sunday, November 18, in this year's Tour of the Fireflies.

The 14th edition of the annual cycling event, which focused on "bicycles for environmentally sustainable transportation," saw cyclists ride through major thoroughfares in Pasig, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Quezon and Marikina cities.

Tiendesitas in Pasig City served as the starting and finishing point for the event.

Similar events were also held in Baguio City and in Palawan, according to organizers.

An estimated 12,000 riders, many also wearing costumes, joined the 38-kilometer ride. A short program, featuring musical acts who also advocate sustainable transportation, capped the event.
