Globe users will soon be able to charge Blackberry application purchases to their phone bills

MANILA, Philippines – This is good news for Pinoy Blackberry fans.

By the second quarter of this year, paying for Blackberry applications will become easier for users on the Globe Telecom network.

No credit card is needed. All users will have to do is charge Blackberry mobile applications they purchased BlackBerry App World™ to their postpaid accounts or prepaid account credits.

“Integrated billing will make it easier than ever for our subscribers to purchase apps for their BlackBerry smartphones,” said Peter Bithos, Globe senior advisor for consumer business.

“Through the secure billing system interface, we are able to provide our subscribers a convenient and worry-free way to purchase premium content on BlackBerry App World without the need for a credit card or direct cash payments. The cost of apps purchased from the app store will be charged to their postpaid phone bill or from their prepaid credits.”

In-app purchases too

Apart from outright app purchases, Blackberry users who use the Globe network will also be allowed to charge “in-app purchases”–or purchases within installed applications– to their regular bill or against their prepaid load.

The new payment system allows them access to digital goods to be purchased without interrupting the app experience.

The new service is expected to roll out in the second quarter of 2012, according to Globe representatives. – Rappler.com
