MANILA, Philippines – B&P All-Day Breakfast’s newest branch can be found in the middle of the maze of office buildings in Ortigas, its warm interiors – visible through its glass windows – standing out against its concrete neighbors.
The restaurant has been around since 2014, and does have branches in other parts of the metro, but is looking to serve those in the Ortigas area comfort food all day, as its name implies – from 6 am to 10 pm, to be exact.
Inside, B&P Ortigas is all wood and quirky sunny-side-up wall paper, with booths and a partially open kitchen on the first floor and regular tables upstairs.
When we visited in early March, the second floor area was prepped for their guests to taste what they had to offer, and for coffee and cooking demonstrations too.
Here’s what we tried at B&P’s recent media event:
Asian Caesar salad (P195)
We started off with a regular Caesar salad with a twist – B&P’s version was tossed in tinapa dressing and topped with salted egg.
Tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwich (P225)
B&P serves classic comfort food and their tomato soup with grilled cheese is perfect to have on chilly nights or after a bad day.
Red molo soup (P175)
This is the restaurant’s only other soup option and it’s much lighter than the tomato soup, but just as flavorful. This one has pork wontons and veggies floating in a clear chicken broth.
Primera tapa (P295)
B&P’s tapa comes with adobo rice, prime angus beef, eggs, and atchara (pickles).
Don Malutong (P285)
If you’re in the mood for bacon, get the Don Malutong, which has all the components of the tapa dish, but with perfectly crispy pork belly instead of tapa.
Burrito Omelette (P230)
A new addition to the menu, B&P’s burritto omelette is a new take on a breakfast burrito, with its crispy bacon fried rice wrapped in scrambled eggs.
At the media event, we were served bite-sized versions of B&P’s sandwiches.
Here’s what we tried:
Mang Benedict’s (P285)
The Mang Benedict’s is the Filipino version of an eggs benedict. Instead of English muffins and Canadian bacon, this version’s poached egg and hollandaise sauce tops a malunggay pan de sal, chicken longganisa instead.
Oyster mushroom burger (P250)
A seasonal offer during the Lenten season, B&P offers an oyster mushroom burger for those of us who are abstaining from meat.
Pork BBQ cheese sandwich (P250)
Another new addition to their menu, is the pork BBQ and cheese sandwich, served with a generous helping of fries.
Latte (P130)
There was a coffee demonstration in the middle of lunch. B&P serves Di Bella premium specialty coffee, a roaster based in Australia.

Beer-battered buttermilk chicken (P450)
You’ll be saving your chicken skin for last if you get this dish – tender chicken meat wrapped in crispy buttermilk beerbatter, and served french toast and a generous helping of homemade gravy.
Carbonara (P265)
The carbonara we tried at B&P that day was a smaller version of what they usually serve, it still tasted like the classic pasta dish we all know and love. Their regular-sized carbonara is topped with an egg yolk, and served with grilled focaccia bread.
Baby back ribs (P475)
These tender ribs are doused in barbecue sauce, topped with a pat of butter, and fall off the bone once you bite into them.
Triple decker (P250)
To cap everything off, members of the press were treated to a cooking demonstration of B&P’s triple decker pancakes.

These rich flapjacks are made with B&P’s secret pancake mix, layered on top of each other with your choice of spread (peanut butter, Speculoos, coco jam, dulce de leche, or Nutella), and topped with caramelized bananas.
Because B&P is part of the Cravings group, you’ll find their pastries there too. Their Chocolate S’mores (P175 per 200g), available in milk, dark, and white chocolate, were a favorite at the tasting event, as was their rainbow cake (P99 per slice, P175 whole) once it was cut into.
You can also get a deep dish apple pie (P95 per slice, P799 whole), salted caramel cake (P125 per slice, P995 whole), or a Nutty Nirvana cake (price unavailable).
To wash it all down, we were served cool drinks like strawberry lemon quench (P140) and lemon celery pandan (P120).
B&P Ortigas can be found at Cyberscape Alpha Ortigas. If the Ortigas area isn’t part of your daily commute, B&P also has branches at 515 Shaw Boulevard, Il Terrazzo Tomas Morato, and Science Hub 3 McKinley Hill Taguig. – Rappler.com
