Pandesal, Chocnut on Leni Robredo’s inauguration menu

MANILA, Philippines – The menu is out for Vice President-elect Leni Robredo’s inauguration, and its a simple 6-dish meal. (READ: On Duterte’s inauguration menu: Maruya and buko juice)

Robredo’s spokesperson, Georgina Hernandez said that her 300 guests will dine on the following Filipino dishes by Verleo Catering:

• Sotanghon
• Maja Blanca
• Pichi Pichi
• Three kinds of pandesal
• Turon
• Buchi with Chocnut

The Chocnut, Hernandez said, was chosen because it’s a favorite of Robredo’s.

Robredo’s inauguration will be held on Thursday, June 30, at the Quezon City Reception House, where she will hold office.

Among those who will partake in the simple feast at her inauguration are representatives from different sectors of society.

Robredo’s inauguration will be held separately from president-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s. This is uncommon in the Philippines, where the president and vice president usually have a joint inauguration, despite being part of different or even opposing political parties.

Robredo was part of the Liberal Party, while Duterte was the standard-bearer of PDP-Laban.

Duterte’s camp has issued a statement, saying that they will have separate inaugurations because of the lack of space at Malacañang’s Rizal Ceremonial Hall.

Robredo’s hour-long inauguration at 9 am will be followed by a thanksgiving party at Quezon Memorial Circle at 5 pm. – Rappler.com
