Megan Young clarifies ‘extended’ work with Miss World
Megan talks about what's next for her after she crowns her successor at this year's coronation night

MANILA, Philippines –  Miss World 2013 Megan Young has addressed rumors that her reign with the pageant was being extended.

Akala ng tao na walang next Miss World 2014. Ang totoo po niyan ay hindi po totoo yung balita, kasi ipapasa ko yung crown sa December. Yung bagong Miss World, siya yung gagawa ng trabaho na ginawa ko po for this year, and ako naman, I will still work with the organization kaya sinasabi na extended. So gagawa pa rin ako ng humanitarian works with them not as Miss World but as Megan Young,” Megan said in an interview with Startalk Saturday, October 11.

(Many thought that there will be no Miss World 2014 but the truth is, the news is not true. I will be passing the crown on this December. The new Miss World, she will continue the work I did for this year, and me, I will still work with the organization, that’s why people are saying it was extended. So I will do my humanitarian work with them not as Miss World, but as Megan Young.)

Megan also took the opportunity to talk about her duties with the organization and her work since she won the title in Bali, Indonesia last September 2013.

( I think I am doing my job very well, with the humanitarian work we’re doing. And when I said the ‘best Miss World ever,’ I said that this year I would do my job well.)

When she won the crown, Megan said that she wanted to be the “best Miss World ever.”

When asked what is next for her, Megan said she wants to return to the entertainment industry.

Gusto kong bumalik sa entertainment industry whether it’s here or sa ibang bansa… Yun talaga aspire ko, sana maka-abroad ako in terms of the entertainment industry like acting or hosting. So wala pa po akong alam na mangyayari pa but syempre pinag-meetingan pa lang,” she said.

(I want to go back to the entertainment industry, whether it’s here or abroad… That is what I aspire to, that I could go abroad and maybe act, or host. So I really do not know what will happen but of course, there are meetings.)

Megan is set to crown her successor as Miss World Philippines Sunday night, October 12 at the Mall of Asia Arena. Tune in to Rappler’s live blog for all the action, real time. – Rappler.com
