Pia Wurtzbach confirms she’s dating Dr. Mike, shares more details

MANILA, Philippines – After admitting she’s dating someone in New York, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach has confirmed and named that “someone” as Mikhail Varshavski aka Dr. Mike.

In an interview on Tonight with Boy Abunda Thursday, April 14, Pia admitted: “I’m dating.”

“I’ve dodged this question for a lot of interviews for you. Because you’re the only one I trust with these things,” she told TV host Boy Abunda.

She shared that she simply calls Dr. Mike, “Mike.” According to Pia, he is still adjusting to traditional Filipino courtship. 

“He’s adjusting to the Filipino ways a lot because it’s very different, the culture is very different. I had to explain to him how it is in the Philippines, kung papaano ba manligaw (how to court), and kung alam ba niya kung anong ibig sabihin ng pangliligaw (and if he knows what courtship means),” she said.

Pia assured that Dr. Mike is a “true gentleman” and would even like to visit the country one day. Both of them, she said, are adjusting to each other.

“Dito kami nagkakaproblema. Kasi hindi ako masyadong malambing. Siguro most Filipinas are pero ako kasi hindi. Maganda iyon ‘di ba? (This is where we have a problem because I’m not too affectionate. Maybe most Filipinas are, but I’m not. Isn’t that a nice thing?)” she said.

Pia also said that she has not told him “I love you,” joking that she would like to make his life a bit hard at first. “Dapat mauna siya. Tapos yung pag-iisipan ko pa kung sasagutin ko (He has to say it first. Then I’ll think about answering him),” she said.

Pia also said that being Miss Universe remains her priority and she has informed Dr. Mike about it.

“I assure you guys, masakit sa kanya pero sinabi ko talaga sa kanya na ito ang number one priority ko (it hurts him but I told him this is my number one priority),” she said.

Photos of the two have been appearing on Dr. Mike’s Snapchat account. In March, Pia confirmed during an appearance on the show Extra that she had been dating someone.
