MANILA, Philippines – Last Oct 14 — A week before her October 21 departure for Moscow, Miss Universe-Philippines Ariella Arida sat down with Rappler for an exclusive fashion and beauty shoot and one-on-one-interview.

The call time was 3 pm at the VIP room of the Araneta Center in Quezon City. Ara arrived promptly, dressed in a pink suit and nude peeptoe heels. We joked that she reminded us of a flight attendant that could have come straight out of a “Legally Blonde” scene.

Photographer Niccolo Cosme and I had worked with previous beauty queens in the same room in the past years, but it’s safe to say that Ara’s shoot had the least awkward moments. Like we hoped, the photo shoot relaxed her, and by the time she sat down to answer our and our readers’ questions, she was all set for it.
