Apple announces much awaited iPad mini and surprises with the release of A6X powered 4th-generation iPad

MANILA, Philippines – All the rumors leading up to the ‘Apple Special Event’ have been confirmed.

Apple officially announced the iPad mini in their event Tuesday, October 23, 2012 (October 24, 2012 in the Philippines) in San Francisco, California.

Apple Inc.’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller said the ‘mini’ is an “entirely new design” not just a smaller version of the regular iPad.

Measuring 7.9-inches, Schiller said the only thing you can do with the iPad-mini that you cannot on the iPad is hold it in one hand.

It has a dual-core A5 processor, is LTE enabled, has a FaceTime HD on the front, and a 5-megapixel iSight camera on the back. The device is also expected to last for 10-hours.

The 16GB wi-fi variant of the iPad mini will retail for $329 and will start shipping in the United States and 33 other countries on November 2, 2012. Unfortunately, the Philippines is not part of the countries it will immediately shipped to. It will be available with 5 different smart covers.
